THE Harvest Thanksgiving at Downham was celebrated on Tuesday, the 27th. Numbers of contributions of Vegetables, Fruit, Flowers and Eggs, were brought to the church during Monday, and all these were tastefully arranged about the church, by kind and skilful hands. The ladies who decorated the church, spent a great part of Monday; in giving it that festive appearance, which added so much to our services of praise and thanksgiving on the foliowing day. It is indeed a good thing to be thankful, and everybody felt it at the glorious Services, in which we all joined to praise God for His goodness. The church was quite full on Tuesday evening, the choir had taken pains to prepare their part, and the preacher the Rev. E. Singleton, delivered an exceptionally good sermon. The collections throughout the day amounted to £4 14s. Id. On Wednesday, a large hamper and two large cases containing the vegetables, fruit and six dozen eggs were sent to Addenbrooke's Hospital. In the name of this noble institution, we thank all those who contributed in kind, or money at the Harvest Thanksgiving. They will never miss what they give to a good cause, and will enjoy theirown meals the more for having contribuited to the support of the sick.

AT Pymoor the Thanksgiving Service, will be held on Tuesday evening, October 4th, at 7-30. The service will be preceded by a Public Tea, in the Schoolroom at 6 p.m.

AT S.Owen's a Service of Thanksgiving will be held on Wednesday Oct.5th at 7 pm. All the proceeds at both Pymoor and S. Owen's will be given to Addenbrooke's Hospiital. Contributions of all kinds will be thankfully received for the Hospital.

THE DAY SCHOOLS re-opened on Monday the 26th, anq we are really grateful that there are at least some parents who have a little consideration for the Schools, and their childrens' education. Unfortunately there are many who appear to have none, and of course against such the law must and will be enforced. Here we have had six week's holidays, of uninterrupted fine weather, during which the parents have had the full advantage of the childrens' help, and yet that is not enough. Such people rob the schools and rob their own children of their due, and there is no excuse for them. The law of the country insists upon one thing. and these parents insist upon the opposite, and what in the world are the SchooI managers to do?

NOW that the Harvest is over, we hope to take up the matter of the improvement of the Cemetery with energy in the the bottom part, repair the walls, make new paths, and clean the whole. The Committee will meet for this purpose next week. We shall then publish the names of all those who have subscribed up to the present, together with some account of the work to be done. Subscriptions will be gladly received by any of the Committee.

THE working partines will be resumed at the, Rectory, on Friday, October 7th. Sunday School children, who will this year work for the Childrens' Orphanage, at Bedford, will meet at five o'clock.

The other working party will meet at 6-30 p.m., and will work for the Annual Sale. The proceeds of this will be given to the fund for the Parish Club, etc. The Rector has already bought three cottages in Main Street, with a view to making a beginning.

A CONFIRMATION will be held by the Bishop of Ely in the Cathedral on Friday, November 25th.The Rector or any of the Olergy will be glad to receive the names of those who desire to be confirmed
